Elizabeth Monvey visits with her new MM Shifter Release!

Hello Elizabeth!  Thank you so much for visiting Written Butterfly with me today!  It’s such a pleasure to chat with you.  So tell me…

Q) Is this book part of a series?  If so, can you tell us about it?

Yes!  Wolf Rising is the last book in the Divergent Species trilogy, although it's part of a bigger picture I incorporated, involving my short story in the Bad Alpha Anthology (from Evernight) and My Pregnant Boyfriend (from the My Boyfriend Is.... series).

Q) Can you give a fun or interesting fact about your book?

Every book except for the Bad Alpha story (Outlaw Wolf) involves male pregnancy! I tried very hard to keep them as believable as possible and it was so much fun giving all my guys a happy ever after.

Q) Do you have any habits that get you in the writing frame of mind?

I work the midshift so every day I head to my local Starbucks, get a hot tea, and write until it's time for me to go in.

Q) Do you plan all your characters out before you start a story or do they develop as you write?

All my characters develop as I write the story.  I introduced my three shifter species in the book My Pregnant Boyfriend, as well as a hunting club going after shifters in mid-transformation.  I thought it was such an interesting plot line that wrote in Henry (The Bear's True Mate), Shawn (Declawed) & Mitch (Wolf Rising) and immediately began figuring out who would be their true mates.

Q) What are your upcoming projects?

I am finishing up revising a contemporary MM story that I had previously published.  I asked for my writes back because I thought the story was weak.  Going through it, I've realized how much I've learned since it was first published seven years ago.

I also plan on writing a sequel to my fantasy story Dark Rider.  I really liked my three heroes and I'd like to explore their story more.

Divergent Species, 3
Darwin Thrune has to warn his alpha about a terrible betrayal, not just to his pack but also to the whole shifter community. He’s not sure what to think about Enforcer Mitch Wakefield’s insistence to go with him for his own protection.
Mitch is a lone wolf, but he can’t deny the attraction he feels towards Darwin.  His one mission is to find the threat to the shifter world and eliminate it, but Darwin has thrown off his objective.
The threat to Darwin’s life sends them fleeing into the wild Canadian wilderness, where they can no longer ignore the flame burning between them.  It will ignite a future neither of them ever expected, one Mitch isn’t sure he wants.  Will Darwin be left with unexpected consequences or a happy ever after?
Be Warned: m/m sex, MPREG

EXCERPT:
Mitch leaned forward and gave Darwin a light kiss on the mouth. He wanted to deepen it, to reignite the ember simmering just below the surface, but sanity lurked in the back of his mind. He pulled back.
“I could go now, kill them all,” he whispered. “Protect you.”
“Is that what an Enforcer does? Kill humans?”
“It would be justified.”
“From whose point of view? Yours or the council?”
“I won’t let them hurt you, Darwin.”
Darwin studied him for a moment. “Do they have weapons?”
Mitch nodded.
“Then we run,” Darwin said. “Not because I don’t believe you can kill them. Not because I believe they have a right to live. This situation is past right or wrong. But as you attack one, another can be free to shoot you, and that I couldn’t bear.”
“All right,” Mitch said. “Let me get dressed. We’ll continue west. For now.”

Q & A with Lea Bronsen!

Hello Lea!  Thank you so much for visiting Written Butterfly with me today!  It’s such a pleasure to chat with you.  So tell me…

Q) Is this book part of a series?  If so, can you tell us about it?

Yes, Fiery 10-16 is the first book of a new, exciting firefighter series called Smokey Glen. The next books will be written by my talented author friends D.C. Stone, Jessica Jayne, and Cait Jarrod, with whom I co-authored the anthology Girl Code. Smokey Glen is a small town in the Rocky Mountains, and each book in the series will feature a firefighter from the same station.

Q) Can you give a fun or interesting fact about your book?

The hero's looks are based on non other than the majestic, insanely handsome movie star, footballer, wrestler, and rugby player Geno Segers! I remember D.C. Stone showing me a picture of him last year, and me squealing in delight and saying, "OMG, I need to write him a book!" lol, and that's what I did.

Q) What gave you the inspiration for your book?

It's quite funny, because I got the idea after responding to a private ad for children’s clothes last year. The seller gave me an address in town…and I ended up knocking on the door of the main fire station. Of all places! And this is exactly how the story of Fiery 10-16 begins J

Q) Do you plan all your characters out before you start a story or do they develop as you write?

It's a long process. When I start plotting the book, I usually have a "feel" about my main characters. I know their hearts and souls and make them mine. Then as I immerse myself into their story, chapter by chapter, I build their backgrounds, motivations, struggles, and dreams, and decide which obstacles they'll have to surmount to achieve a personal development. Little by little, I also add secondary characters to give the story vastness and depth and strengthen the plot and subplots. I can tell you there's a lot of back-and-forth editing!

Q) How much real life do you put into or influences your books?

I always include bits of real life into my books, be it a place, a name, a person, or a particular experience (as in the case of Fiery 10-16), because it helps to describe the settings or the situations as realistically as possible.

Q) What are your upcoming projects?

I have 5 very different works-in-progress waiting for me to allot them time. A psychological thriller, a dark erotic new adult MMMM romance, an erotic lesbian romance, a romantic suspense, and a historical romance. I'm not sure which one to work on, to be honest! It all depends on my mood J

Blurb:

Runo Wiggins is a scarred man, the wounds etched into his psyche deeper than those on his skin. But he loves his job: fighting fires helps reenact his survival of a house fire as a teen, one that killed his mother and brutal stepfather.

Dawn Caravello is married to a psychotic drunk. She can take his beatings as long as he doesn't touch their children, and she'll do anything to put food on the table, even if it means stealing from the town hero.

When Runo meets the fiery Dawn, sparks fly. But he suspects she is victim of the same abuse as his mother was. As day turns to night, the past and the present blend in an exhausting, nerve-wrecking chase to prevent another death.

About Lea Bronsen:
I like my reads hot, fast, and edgy, and strive to give my own stories the same intensity. After venturing into dirty inner-city crime drama with my debut novel Wild Hearted, I divide my writing time between psychological thriller, romantic suspense, and erotic dark/contemporary romance.

New Release! The Night Gardener by ED Parr

Hello E. D.!  Thank you so much for visiting Written Butterfly with me today!  It’s such a pleasure to chat with you.  So tell me…

Q) How did you dream up the dynamics of your characters?

Zachary Yarrow came to me in the night. There are lots of natural noises in the night where I live. Recently something larger than usual has been padding along the patio and wooden deck at the side. As I listened one night, I suddenly thought its gardening, the animal is the night gardener, and it made me laugh. Then Zachary dropped into my mind like the hot stuff he is and I had to write. Dane Lovell is the guy who’s had some heartbreak. He’s still shaken by it and perhaps he doesn’t need the paranormal side of Zachary but the tradeoff comes because Zachary is such a happy character and there’s no inkling of what’s really happening with him until they fall deeply in love and Dane asks Zachary to live with him. That’s the catalyst for Dane to give Zachary the support he’s needed all along.

I love them both. They’re perfect for each other. They have the kind of love we all deserve.

By the way, this is a happy story, it can tug on the heartstrings but the HEA is satisfying for me.

Q) Can you give a fun or interesting fact about your book?

The river where the initial sinister event happens to Zachary and then transfers magic to Dane is one I saw on my work travels. It rushed by and under the bridge I was standing on so loudly, it was as if I stood under a waterfall. That was a deep and powerful river.

Q) What gave you the inspiration for The Night Gardener?

Noises in the night. Oh, and I discovered my night gardener is a deer. (Smiles) And the river I spoke of. Further along the bank of that river, it plateaus out so that it doesn’t rush by so fast, and there’s a stretch of treacherous looking reeds. Old trees line the bank there, and one of them appears in the story, and gives Dane a scare when he’s out walking.

Q) What are your upcoming projects?

I have two WIP’s actually submitted to my publisher.

Given Time, which is MMromance, contemporary man love, and that has a spooky touch the same as The Night Gardener.

Thief of Hearts, a fun contemporary man move romantic erotica.

The Night Gardener

#MMromance new release from Evernight Publishing

Architect, Dane Lovell takes an off-season vacation in an old New England mansion, hoping to ease his broken heart, and spark his imagination. Impressed by the pretty gardens, he’s surprised by the sinister atmosphere of the river than winds through the estate. Dane settles down to his vacation and tries to immerse himself in his drawings. One night, the sound of the back door smashing open in the wind and rain shocks Dane from his work.

Spooky, gorgeous, and enigmatic Zachary Yarrow has brought logs for the fire.

He’s the estate gardener and brings with him not just passion and a love affair for Dane, but a strange, spine-tingling mystery.

Who is Zachary, and what will happen when Dane finds out?

From the author
Inspired by some wild countryside, and a rushing river that stormed under a bridge so loudly, I couldn’t hear what a friend said to me, for me this story is as much about nature as love. I’ve always believed there are more things in the elegant stream of life than we know about, and this story is about a young man who loves life so much he finds a way to live it. There are some heartstring tugs in this story, and some hot love scenes, because this is a love story. It’s a journey for both characters, Dane and Zachary to deep, lasting love.

The gardener slotted his logs into the spaces between other logs already in the nook bricked into the side of the fireplace. “Zachary Yarrow.”

Dane folded his arms over his body, wishing he’d thought to close the door as chilling air swept along the hall and into the room. “Dane Lovell.”

Zachary stood, having completed his task. “You’re here off season. I guess you know. I always do the gardens off-season—have done for the last—well, for years. When I’m here, I usually stay in this cottage. I guess I need to find somewhere else this time.”

Cold, Dane accepted the information with a nod. “I need to close the door, Mr. Yarrow.” He returned to the back door and closed it up.

Zachary Yarrow had followed. “You can call me Zachary.”

Dane hung around near the back door. The gardener showed no signs of leaving and Dane didn’t know how to be rude enough just to ask him to go.

“It’s way too dark to garden. You’re wet through.” Dane’s gaze ranged over the sodden sweater Zachary wore, and along the rain-darkened jeans covering Zachary’s muscled thighs.
The guy has to be cold. “Can I offer you a cup of coffee?”

Zachary grinned happily. “A cup of coffee, yeah, that will be great, thanks.”

Dane led the way back into the kitchen. “Sit by one of the radiators and try to dry out a little.” He put water to boil and heaped instant into mugs. “I can lend you a dry sweater…”

Zachary leaned close to the radiator. “It’s okay. I’ll drape my sweater on here. It’ll be dry in no time.” He pulled the soggy item over his head and arranged it on the hot metal flutes.

Dane experienced a shock of attraction as he took in the smooth, muscled chest on display when Zachary turned to him.

“Look, it’s already steaming.”

Dane tore his gaze from Zachary’s body and glanced at the sweater. The kettle boiled and he whipped around to make the coffee, thankful for the diversion.

“Do you take sugar or cream?”

Zachary’s voice came from immediately behind him. “Black, thank you, no sugar.”

Dane closed his eyes to dissipate the surprise Zachary’s silent approach gave him. He edged around to face Zachary, who stood so close Dane’s composure flew clean away as his whole body reacted to the proximity of this complete hunk.
Holy hell, he is completely gorgeous. Dane stepped sideways and picked up a mug. He handed it to Zachary. “Coffee, er, sorry, its instant. I’ve given myself a vacation from grounds and filters.” He smiled apologetically.

Zachary studied him for a few seconds.

Dane had the distinct feeling Zachary knew exactly what he was thinking.
